Understanding Emotional Crisis in Learners - How Parents Can Support Children Experiencing Suicidal Thoughts
Following recent concerns locally, Philippa Riches, an experienced psychotherapist, has agreed to run a supportive seminar for The Haven for parents and carers who want to better understand emotional crisis, suicidal thoughts, and how to respond when a child is struggling.
This 90-minute small group seminar will offer calm, practical guidance around:
How suicidal thoughts can show up in children and teenagers
Why exposure to suicide or attempted suicide can increase risk and concern
How to have supportive, non-judgemental conversations
What helps — and what can unintentionally make things harder
How parents can support safety at home
When and where to seek further help
This is not about fear.
It is about understanding, connection, and knowing what to do next.
Led by: Philippa Riches, experienced psychotherapist
