The Coronas

Legendary Irish band The Coronas will launch the new venue at The Haven in Dunmore East on Saturday 24 May. It will be their first gig in Waterford since their Daytripper headliner back in 2013. Twelve years on from that the band are bigger than ever, having just played a fantastic run of 6 sold out shows in Dublin’s Olympia and Vicar Street in December. With major headline festival shows already announced in Cork, Limerick and Wicklow for 2025, it will be amazing to see the lads rock it out at Waterford’s newest and most exciting venue in May.

The Coronas released their eighth studio album, Thoughts & Observations, in September 2024. Produced by Grammy award-winning, long-time collaborator, George Murphy (Mumford and Sons, The Specials, Ellie Goulding), written in Dingle, County Kerry and recorded in Eastcote Studios in London, Thoughts & Observations is a powerful, melodic record which takes an incisive look at life, relationships and art. Four singles have already been taken from the album, ‘Ghosting’, ‘That’s Exactly What Love Is’, ‘Confirmation’, and ‘Speak Up’, about which Danny O’Reilly says, “It was one of the first songs that we wrote for the record, it felt immediately like an album opener. The song is an uplifting cry for help and guidance.”

In a constantly changing music industry, the Coronas’ longevity is rare and to be celebrated. Their last three albums have gone straight to number 1 in the Irish charts, while their live following has grown exponentially overseas, with recent sold-out tours in the US, Canada and Australia a testament to their success. Renowned for being one of the best live acts in the country, the band have been headlining big shows and festivals in Ireland for almost 15 years, and their regular Christmas shows in The Olympia are the stuff of legend. Recent highlights include being voted Hot Press #1 Live Act of the Year 2023, performing for President Biden in Co. Mayo and supporting Bruce Springsteen at BST Hyde Park in London.
