The Academic make their long awaited Waterford debut on Friday 10th October when they play the new Haven venue in Dunmore East. It’s part of a short Irish Tour that includes Dublin’s legendary Olympia venue and comes on the back of a fantastic full to the rafters gig at the 8,000 capacity Electric Arena at EP last weekend.

With their self-released debut album, ‘Tales From The Backseat’, The Academic announced themselves with a huge bang and massive radio friendly hits like “Bear Claws” and “Why Can’t We Be Friends”. Released in 2018, it hit number 1 in the Irish Albums Chart but had enough of a global reach that over the next few years, the band toured the UK, Europe and a good chunk of North America.Second album ‘Sitting Pretty’ (2023) once again rocketed to the number 1 spot on release with it’s more mature edge. Produced by Kaiser Chief Nick Hodgson, the band’s excitement and giddy joy can be heard all over the record. The album got a huge push worldwide opening up new touring territories for the band.

It’s in the live arena that The Academic really excel, either on their own extensive headline tours across Ireland, the UK and Europe or supporting The Killers on their recent stadium tour.
