Paul Oakenfold - The South 25 Year Anniversary

SOUTH – 25 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

South in Tramore opened it’s doors in October 2001 and for a couple of amazing years it was the biggest club in the country (2,200 capacity) bringing the world’s best DJs to Waterford. Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox, Roger Sanchez, Sasha, Laurent Garnier, John Digweed, Dave Clarke & Slam, Green Velvet, Layo & Bushwacka, Boy George, Derrick Carter, Mauro Picotto and many others all made the trip to the South East to play for thousands of Deise clubbers.

The night everyone still talks about though was the opening night with Paul Oakenfold, who started his 2 hour set with ResuRection by PPK to an ecstatic ‘jammers’ main room. Paul himself looked genuinely (and pleasantly) shocked hearing thousands sing back every word of “Finally” and “Bullet In The Gun” to him. 

To celebrate the 25 Year Anniversary of that night, Paul plays The Haven in Dunmore East on Saturday 26th September. He will be joined by Billy Scurry, Warren Sauvage, Will Power and Gerry Byrne who also played on that legendary night for Irish clubbing.
