This month, wonderful Vicki Connerty will be sharing her story: Life, Unexpected. 

We’ll be exploring what happens when life doesn't go according to plan? And what happens when you're the one who decides to throw the plan out of the window?

From swapping London for Australia on a whim to reinventing herself as a playwright in her forties, and moving to New York just weeks before the pandemic, Vicki Connerty has experienced her fair share of unexpected plot twists. Some have been adventures of her own making, while others, including bereavement and cancer, have arrived entirely uninvited.

In this funny, candid and occasionally poignant conversation, Vicki explores our complicated relationship with the unexpected. How do we respond when life changes without our permission? Why should we sometimes actively seek out uncertainty, take risks and disrupt the comfortable lives we've built? And what might we miss if everything went exactly according to our best-laid plans?

Drawing on her own experiences of loss, adventure and reinvention, Vicki reflects on the tension between planning and spontaneity, ambition and acceptance, and the challenge of making plans for a future that comes with no guarantees. It's a conversation about adaptability, discovering things about ourselves we never anticipated, and remaining open to the wonderful possibilities that uncertainty can bring.

Because life rarely follows the script we've written for it. And sometimes, that's where the most interesting stories begin.
