Latinxs for Palestine and The Hoodoisie Roundtable Conversations Series with Pilsen Community Books presents A Conversation with Mosab Abu Toha

Mosab Abu Toha is a Palestinian poet and writer (essayist, short-story writer) who has been a much-needed unapologetic voice in the struggle for a Free Palestine. Mosab's writings and advocacy insist on Palestinian dignity and humanity and refuses to let slide the hypocrisy of governments and complicity of cowards that has enabled the oppression of Palestinians for decades.

On the South Side of Chicago, where Latinxs for Palestine was formed, Mosab is the kind of righteous artist and voice we wish all our communities deserved. We are happy to be teaming up with our co-organizers Pilsen Community Books to welcome Mosab Abu Toha for a reading of his works and conversation with Chicago activists Ricardo Gamboa and Salon Kawakib's Eman Abdelhadi.

Like all Latinxs for Palestine events, proceeds from this event will go to Middle Eastern Children's Alliance. To date, Latinxs for Palestine has raised money for Chicago Palestine Film Festival, Gaza Sunbirds, Palestine Legal and Team PCRF and Selma Sweets 5k.

Doors open at 6pm. Program starts at 7:00pm.

Admission is by sliding scale donation levels. Although walk-up admissions will be reserved, it is highly suggested to reserve your seat now with Ticket Tailor.

Also available will be Latinxs for Palestine merchandise, books from Pilsen Commnunity Books, offerings from Falasteen Favorites, beverages blending Palestinian and Latino flavors by Luis Mora and Haneen Shriam.

Event will be held at Co-Prosperity Sphere in Bridgeport at 3219 South Morgan Street. Co-Prosperity Sphere has been invaluable to Latinxs for Palestine, allowing us to host events supporting Palestine at a time when other institutions have not.

**NOTE ON ADMISSION**

Various General Admission, i.e. "General Admission " designates tiers or donation per one ticket.

***COVID PROTOCOLS***

There is an extreme surge in COVID nation-wide and in Chicago.

Israel’s violence against Gazans is a mass disabling event. For example, over 10 children a day in Gaza lose a limb. Over 9,000 children have been injured, many of them are now amputees.

That our government could care less about the disabling effects of Israel’s violence should be no surprise: Rather than protect people in the U.S. from the pandemic, our government deregulated precautions and exposed us to sickness, causing short and long term disability and premature death for millions.

We believe every instance of COVID infection is a victory for people in power who do not seem to care whether we live or die. As such, we are committed to protecting our communities.

Latinxs For Palestine and our co-organizers asks attendees to wear masks when not eating or drinking.

ABOUT LATINXS FOR PALESTINE

Chicago is one-third Latino and greater Chicago is home to the largest Palestinian American population in the country. Founded by Haneen Shriam with Ricardo Gamboa, Latinxs for Palestine was created to foster radical solidarity between these communities in the service of a Free Palestine. Latinxs for Palestine does this by creating events to bring these communities together that are opportunities for community building, radical education, and imagining the potentials and power of cross cultural solidarity. Latinxs for Palestine events aim to help reinforce Palestinian cultural infrastructure in Chicago.

ABOUT THE HOODOISIE

The Hoodoisie is Chicago only live and live-streamed radical news and talk show. The Hoodoisie spotlights radical activism in Chicago, the U.S. and hemispheric Americas. A blend of media and knowledge production and party activism and popular education, The Hoodoisie aims to bring radical discourse to Chicago's activist, cultural and working-class communities and communities of color and to allow people to engage the discourse that often shapes their lives but from which they are often excluded.
