The Open Outpost: Help young adults find purpose through nature and action
For many young adults navigating today’s world, the transition into adulthood feels harder than ever. Facing an unpredictable job market, deep-seated anxiety over environmental and global crises, and widespread mental health struggles—over 50% of unemployed young people report facing health or mental health challenges (ONS, 2026) —it is easy to feel stuck or lose hope.
We are creating opportunities for young adults (18-26) who have not yet found their 'thing' (not in work, education or employment) to explore what might be possible through our Open Outpost programme. We create a tailored programme for each Young Delegate to give them the opportunity to:
Learn - attendance at a talk, lecture or film night
Taking action -take action on an issue they care about
Telling stories - through their chosen medium
Making connections - meeting other young people and professionals in relevant fields
We are taking young adults to a nationally-leading event in London in November - far more than just attending talks and workshops, these young people will work alongside us as co-facilitators— building real-world confidence and practical skills as well as meeting others.
Why Your support matters
Financial barriers shouldn't hold back potential - by funding a meal, a train ticket, or a place to sleep, you directly enable a young adult to step out of isolation, discover their agency, and see a path forward.
Every contribution—big or small—puts real tools, fresh perspectives, and genuine hope into the hands of the emerging generation.
Will you help buy a piece of their journey today?
