Materia Medica Study Hours
Explore medicinal plants in a practical, clinically grounded way as you build stronger materia medica skills. You’ll learn to recognize plants, compare related species, understand formulations and safety considerations, and connect Herbal Medics Academy methodology to familiar herbs as well as region-specific and lesser-known plants.
Each class includes two hours of online instruction:
~ 1 hour of short, pre-recorded lessons to review at your convenience, followed by a quiz (multiple choice, open book).
~ 45 minute live online instruction focused on clinical applications and student questions and observations. Students should plan to attend live in order to participate in discussion and receive credit. The live class will be recorded and available for review in the classroom.
Must pass quiz with 70% or better grade to earn 1 credit hour.
Must attend live class to earn 1 additional credit hour.
Downloadable class materials include syllabus, class notes and reading materials, pre-recorded classes, live class recording, and measure-of-success checklist.
There are no required prerequisites for this course; however, Herbalism for Professionals (HMP) is highly recommended as a prerequisite or co-requisite.
