Experience the Solar Eclipse at The Hunters Inn
Wednesday 12th August 2026
On 12th August 2026, up to 90% of the Sun will be covered by the Moon in one of the UK's most impressive partial solar eclipses. Then, just a few hours later, the Perseid meteor shower reaches its peak under beautifully dark, moonless skies.
With clear weather, it promises to be one of the most spectacular stargazing days of the decade.
Join us at The Hunters Inn, nestled in the heart of Exmoor National Park, one of the UK's largest Dark Sky Reserves, for a memorable day beneath the skies.
Guided Eclipse Walk – £10 per person, includes a drink.
Led by Unity from Exmoor Wild Swim, an experienced Mountain Leader and Mountaineering Instructor, this guided walk takes you to the breathtaking viewpoint at Highveer Point to experience the eclipse from one of Exmoor's most dramatic locations. Along the way, Unity will share her knowledge of the local landscape, wildlife and the eclipse itself, making this much more than just a walk.
Before or after the walk, relax with a drink at The Hunters Inn, or make an evening of it by booking a table for dinner. As darkness falls, stay with us to enjoy the Perseid meteor shower, with Exmoor's famously dark skies providing the perfect backdrop for watching shooting stars streak across the night sky.
Whether you're an avid astronomer, keen photographer or simply looking for a unique day out, this is an event not to be missed.
Guided Walk: £10 per person
