DJ Workshop with I. JORDAN – for Trans+ and Gender Non-Conforming People

THEIR Initiative is in collaboration with address to welcome acclaimed DJ and producer I. Jordan (they/them) for a special DJ workshop exclusively for trans+ and gender non-conforming people.

The session will begin with a short talk from I. Jordan, who will share their journey into DJing, experiences as a trans person in the DJ scene, and reflections on their creative practice, influences and interests.

Participants will then have the opportunity to get hands-on with DJ equipment and learn directly from one of the UK's most celebrated electronic artists.

This workshop is open exclusively to trans+, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people, and is designed to provide a supportive environment for learning, experimentation, and connection for those of all abilities. 

Places are extremely limited, so we encourage early booking.

All workshop attendees will also receive free entry to the THEIR x address Fundraiser, taking place immediately after the session, where I.Jordan will perform the starting set. More info here.

About I.Jordan

I. JORDAN is a pivotal influence in UK dance music culture. Since their debut release in 2019, the Doncaster-born, London-based DJ and producer has blazed trails with rave-infused house and techno steeped in Northern culture.

I. JORDAN has become known for a specific brand of euphoric house that transcends dancefloors and speaks straight to the human spirit. They’ve won numerous awards, remixed Romy, Fred Again, TSHA and Pet Shop Boys, toured with Fred Again and Flume, and sold out shows around the world, from London to Manchester, Tokyo to Sydney.

Jordan gained international recognition with their debut album I AM JORDAN, chosen as one of BBC 6’s album of the year in 2024. I. JORDAN sees art and activism as inextricable, promoting queer empowerment and supporting marginalized communities through workshops, productions and shows.

Jordan launched their live show format in 2024, combining live programming and guitar with visuals, dancers and vocalists. Their recent music explores deep emotional expression, championing true authenticity, and rejecting society’s ideas of how they should exist in the world. And by embodying their most authentic self, they hope others feel liberated to do the same.

THEIR Initiative supports trans+ creativity and artistic excellence through activity-based events that connect people to skills, opportunities, and to each other. This workshop is part of a project series focusing on transmasculine and butch histories, and is supported by Andrew Lumsden's Grand Camp Maisie Fund.

IO is a new space in Southampton programming a range of experimental live art and electronic music events. It is a characterful, multi-purpose venue built into a Victorian railway arch. There are programmable lights and a full-powered soundsystem installed within the venue. The venue is below ground and there are four steps to access; if you have access requirements please let us know in advance and we will do our best to offer an accessible, inclusive experience.
