Join the Dig it Kids team for 45 minutes of fun, learning the skills of an archaeologist and the archaeology and history of our county.
Children will be taught the basics of archaeological excavation and they will dig individual sections of the excavation pits. containing a selection of archaeological finds. The children will do post excavation processing of their finds; examining, identifying, and discussing the use of each find and laying out the finds in a time ordered sequence. This artefact timeline will become the props for telling the story of the area.
This event is open to kids aged 6-12 years old. A parent / guardian must drop their child/children to the event 5 minutes prior to the start time, and be ready to collect them five minutes prior to the end time.
Please note that there will be 9 places available on a first-come first-served basis on the day for the session - for those who do not manage to find a slot here, please come early on the day and sign up with the Cruinniú na nÓg representative.
