Paul Jones is best known as the original frontman of the iconic 60’s pop group Manfred Mann, the founder of The Blues Band and the host of the BBC’s long-running Blues Show. Despite his long and fruitful career, Paul has long held a desire to front a big band singing and playing his personal blues, jazz and swing favourites.
At the age of 15, a recording of Jimmy Rushing with the Count Basie Orchestra was Jones’s introduction to the sound of Big Band Blues. 60 years later, and backed by a powerhouse 17-piece ensemble directed by Denny Ilett, Paul Jones’s distinctive vocals and harmonica work their way through a treasure trove of classics made famous by the likes of Count Basie, Jimmy Rushing, Joe Williams, Nat ‘King’ Cole and others, including some of his own.
