Description
Careers are built on a strong foundation. In the years leading up to her first
CD release as a professional musician, life was always encased in art &
music. A family of performers set the groundwork for the feeling of
‘normalcy’ with life in the arts.
Her father, Harve Presnell, was best known as a “lead” stage performer in
many musical theater productions ( as well as an opera singer, character
actor, many voice overs and commercial work ) and her Mother Sheri Mann
also built a career in the theater and on stage and as an acting coach and
assistant director ~
For the past 30 years “Ruby” has made a career in music; recording, voice
over, commercial work and is best known for currently running two different
bands “Ruby and the Red Hots” (diverse blend of original Rockin’ Blues,
R&B Soul and Funk) and “Ruby Blue” ( San Diego’s Premier acoustic jazz
group. (classic jazz / blues with a personal touch that makes each song fresh
and modern.) as well, Ruby lends her voice to other groups like “The Steely
Damned” tribute band which has been performing for the past 25 years ~
With a 6 foot ,lean stature, this blonde’s appearance to some does not
invoke the image of a blues/Jazz vocalist. Ruby has definitely broken any
pre-conceived notions of what that should look like !
A professional music career spanning 30 years has seen Ruby perform at
such venues as the Long Beach Blues Festival, House of Blues, Tipentinas (
New Orleans ), and with the San Diego Symphony, just to name a few.
She has performed with such artists as James Moody, Charles Brown, Jr.
Wells, Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, Poncho Sanchez and CJ Chenier and
others.
Ruby finds a way to weave an original creative flair to all musical
undertakings, and is certainly a unique and Joyful songstress ~
