Growing Together: Supporting Siblings in Families Living with Disability

When a child has a disability, the whole family is impacted, including siblings. Siblings can experience a unique mix of love, pride, worry, responsibility, frustration and sometimes feeling “in the background” as family life centres around their sibling’s needs.

This practical and compassionate presentation will explore how disability can shape the sibling experience and what parents can do to support positive sibling relationships, emotional wellbeing, and a strong sense of belonging for every child.

This session is relevant for any family, regardless of disability type, including those navigating 'glass child' dynamics, where siblings without disability support needs can be overlooked amid a caregiver's competing demands.
