Transactions in Securities: Online Course

Tue 10 Nov 2026 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM GMT Online, Zoom

Many common transactions have the potential to fall foul of the transactions in securities legislation, which has been with us since FA 1960. While the rules probably no longer apply to corporation taxpayers, the majority of transactions ultimately involve income taxpayers to whom they may apply and HMRC’s attitude is often unhelpful. This three-hour seminar will take you through the legislation and give practical advice on transactions affected and how to deal with them, including getting a pre-transaction clearance from HMRC. The seminar has been fully updated for recent tax cases.

  • The mischief: why was the legislation introduced?
  • Conditions for the rules to apply
  • Types of transaction affected
  • The motive test and escape clauses
  • Counteraction of tax advantages
  • Pre-transaction clearances
  • Recent cases

Price: £199 + VAT for the first delegate BUT this is a per organisation price, so up to 10 of your colleagues from the same organisation can participate at absolutely no extra charge, even if they are viewing it from a different location or at a different time. So, of course, if there are 11 of you the cost per delegate would be just £18.09 each.

Delegates will receive full course materials, including a recording of the session, downloadable slides, and (on request) a CPD certificate.

For smaller firms with 4 or less partners, the price is £99, which is for a single place with no additional free places
