UK Food Law Update 2023: A Live Online Conference

Wed 5 Jul 2023 1:45 PM - 5:00 PM BST Online, Zoom

Our Annual Food Law Update conference is a comprehensive online three hour event for all those who need to keep up to date with the latest developments in food law, including private practice lawyers, in-house lawyers in food and beverage companies and retailers, food scientists and technologists, trading standards and environmental health officers and all others involved with compliance and the regulation, enforcement, application and interpretation of food law. It is definitely NOT a repeat of the 2022 Food Law conference - the programme has been redesigned from scratch.

This three hour online Food Law conference will be streamed live, direct to your desktop so you can watch it from your office or home. The price for this is £240. This is a per organisation price, so up to 20 of your colleagues can participate at no extra charge, even if they are viewing it from a different location or at a different time. The whole conference will be recorded so you have the choice of watching it live or recorded, or a mixture of both.

For firms with 4 or less partners, the price is £99 + VAT for a single ticket (no additional free places)

We have gathered together some leading experts in these complex areas, and between them they will cover the following topics::

- A review of recent events/updates/current issues

- It's not just about the label: a case study

- Allergens - an update

-  Dairy designations and the use of meat terminology on vegetarian alternatives

-
Genetic manipulation in the context of food security - a brief update on gene editing and GMOs in the UK and EU

- The Genetic Technology (Precision Breeding) Act 2023

- Food v medicine: definitions, claims, enforcement

- Here we go again? Sugar tax, fat tax, salt tax, reducing obesity or just changing formulations.

Although food law is of course country-specific, the way food law is applied in practice is more universal. In addition to the UK and Ireland, the conference will be relevant to delegates in other jurisdictions who are interested in how food law applies and particularly with those involved with exporting to the UK.

This is streets ahead of an ordinary passive webinar experience with one or two speakers, which would get very tedious very quickly. We have 7 speakers. With this online conference, you will be able to participate with up to 20 colleagues as you want - either live, or in segments (perhaps viewing it a session at a time over several days/weeks) or on an on-demand, recorded basis. You will be able to take part by video or audio from your office or home.

Speakers:

David Travers KC, Gough Square Chambers

Sarah Howarth, Howarth Food Safety Ltd

Sam Jennings, Berry Ottaway & Associates

Ian Thomas, 6 Pump Court

Stuart Jessop, 6 Pump Court

Katrina Anderson, Osborne Clarke

What will delegates take away from this conference?

-
An in-depth understanding of the latest developments in food law

- A practical analysis of how the law applies to food and beverage companies and retailers

- Reduced price access to The Legal Training Consultancy’s portfolio of online courses and conferences

- The recording of the complete conference, which can be shared with colleagues within the same organisation.

 Important Notes about Booking

1. If you are booking more than say 14 delegates, it is probably better to make two bookings of half the number of delegates each, starting with the paying delegate and then adding half the free delegates to that booking and then creating a new booking for the rest of the free delegates. The reason for this is that the booking platform time-out kicks in perhaps too quickly and you can lose all the information you inputted. Alternatively you can book your first delegate and send the names, job titles and email addresses of the additional delegates to us at info@legaltrainingconsultancy.co.uk

2. Payment can be made by credit or debit card or alternatively by invoice. The option to pay by invoice is below the pay by card option in the booking form

3. If you have more than 20 delegates then extra delegates are £20 each. Contact us at info@legaltrainingconsultancy.co.uk to arrange this

4. If you don't have the complete list of who will be attending you can book for those that you know will be attending and add the others at a later date

5. If you would like to submit questions in advance to the speakers please send them to info@legaltrainingconsultancy.co.uk

6. The recording of the conference will not normally be available until 14 days after the conference.

7. Please ensure that, when booking, you get colleagues' email addresses entirely correct as failure to do so will probably mean that they will not receive joining instructions

Terms of booking

1. Payment of delegate fees for attendance is normally required before the date of the conference, otherwise attendance may be refused. This policy is flexible in relation to bookings received very close to the conference.

2. Replacement delegates are permitted at any time but if they are too close to the conference date, the change may not be reflected in the list of delegates

3. We operate a no cancellation policy. The only exception is in relation to demonstrable ill-health on the day of the conference. Notwithstanding this we may, at our discretion, offer a credit for the whole or part of the delegate fee paid to be used either towards the costs of a future conference or other event.
