Knoll Hill was once a barren hillock occupied only by grazing goats. The animals gave the area its earlier name, Goat Hill. As the neighboring Port of Los Angeles grew, it purchased the land surrounding Knoll Hill, thinking the hill could be razed for additional container storage and railroad lines to facilitate traffic. Public outcry under the “Save Knoll Hill” slogan led the Port to abandon the plan in 2001, just months before the hill’s scheduled demolition.
Today, Knoll Hill is home to Eastview Little League. We thank the volunteer-run Little League for sharing its fields with us for the night.
The Livonian Cinema is a traveling movie theatre in Southern California that collaborates with artists, organizations and communities to host movie screenings. We are supported by the California Arts Council, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Department of Arts & Culture, and the Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Los Angeles.
