About the Workshop

This Beginners Workshop is a gentle and welcoming introduction to the handpan, designed for those who are completely new to the instrument or curious to explore rhythm and melody in a calm, supportive setting.

Led by Hannah Aiyana, founder of the London Handpan School and London’s only handpan maker and tuner, this session offers a spacious first encounter with the instrument — focusing on ease, listening, and simple musical foundations rather than performance or pressure.

No prior musical experience is needed.

What to Expect

During this two-hour workshop, we’ll explore:

– Basic handpan technique, focusing on touch, tone, and comfort

– Simple rhythms to build coordination and confidence

– Gentle melodic patterns you can enjoy playing straight away

– An introduction to listening and playing with awareness

Instruments

This workshop is taught on D Kurd handpans, from Www.atlashandpans.com. All instruments used during the workshop are available for purchase. Rental spots are available but limited. If you’re interested in continuing your practice at home, I’m always happy to advise and talk you through the options.

Group Size

Workshops are kept intentionally small to create a relaxed, intimate learning environment and allow for individual guidance.
