We all have over 45 years each of musical background. All local boys well seasoned musicians to say the least. (yes we’re old) A little bit about myself. Although not getting rich, I’ve been doing my small part in keeping a true American art form known as the blues alive here in paradise for some years now. Not to blow my own horn or sound conceited, but some consider me as the “OG” of the blues scene here in Hawaii. First started playing the blues back in high school 78. Then rising from the Lava rocks with Hawaii’s first original blues band called The Honolulu Blues Band back in 1980. We opened for bands /artists such as,…. The Guess who, Jimmy Scott, Little Charlie & the nite cats, James Cotton & mega star Billy Preston. I am a frequent visitor to the legendary Beale Street in Memphis Tenn. where the blues gave birth to rock & roll. ( Sun Records etc.) Recorded 2 albums with Third Degree, JR & the dynamic Shuffle Kings, & Ronstadt & Taylor. And yes Linda is my cousin.
Gil Farias is an awesome bass player who has been “laying it down” since the Waikiki nightclub days. He brings the “funkiness” to our sound for sure.
Byron Lai another blues veteran from back in the day at Anna’s. Hat makes the man, Mojo hand, Bo Bo handshake and a few other bands. His guitar stylings adds some attitude to our sound.
James Ganeko is known as a legendary drummer with hundreds of recording sessions and has played with so many big names over the years. He also plays guitar and fronts his own band called Tiki Taboo. I am truly blessed to be playing with such talented musicians I call my brothers.
