Jon Yamasato began his musical journey as the lead singer and guitarist of Pure Heart, one of Hawaiʻi's most beloved and celebrated musical groups. The breakout trio, which included ʻukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro and percussionist Lopaka Colón, Jr., quickly rose to prominence, earning five Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards in their debut year and securing a spot among Hawaiʻi's top 50 musical groups of all time. Renowned for their innovative sound blending contemporary and traditional island influences, Pure Heart became one of the youngest bands to take the local music scene by storm, garnering widespread acclaim and a loyal fan base. Jon embarked on a solo career in 1999, releasing his first contemporary, island style album and showcasing his artistry as a vocalist and guitarist. Highly sought after for collaborations with numerous artists and groups, he has further cemented his legacy as a talented and versatile musician. Today, Jon is a producer of the popular online show Hisessions - highlighting Hawaiʻi's finest musicians, has toured the world with world-renowned ʻukulele master Herb Ohta Jr., and continues to captivate audiences with his heartfelt music, making each appearance a unique and memorable experience.
