Steep'd returns for our next in Sound session on September 4th at First Street Market with a special live musical performance by Palm Reading and visuals by Nandini Srinivasan.
Palm Reading is the musical project from sound designer Skooby Laposky and multi-instrumentalist Charles Copley inspired by plant life and traditions of ambient music and deep listening. Palm Reading creates immersive music in collaboration with the natural environment, combining live biodata captured from plants, on-location field recordings, and acoustic instrumentation.
There will be two deep-listening sessions, with social time before and after the performances. Guests will also have the option to participate in a gentle breathwork session during one of the sets to sync with the plants and the music.
Tea service will run all night and is included with entry! We are currently serving a selection from MEM Tea Imports.
DETAILS
We will have a 15 minute arrival window from 8-8:15 PM, and may not be able to accommodate for late arrivals once the deep listening portion begins.
This event is 18+ and a valid ID may be checked upon arrival.
This will primarily be a floor-based experience, and guests should plan to bring your own mats, cushions, blankets, and anyhing else that will help you get comfortable. We will have a limited supply of mats and cushions available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Some traditional seating will also be available, including our community art tables. Please reach out to info@theludo.co with accessibility requests as soon as possible.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZER
The Ludo is a Post-Materialist Playground offering community events, classes, and coaching services to foster more conscious, connected, and creative ways of living.
Our Steep'd series takes a different approach to nightlife—preserving many of the reasons why we go out: unwinding after a long week, immersing in art and music, and connecting with others—while rethinking some of the elements that can leave us feeling overstimulated and exhausted.
By keeping volume at more intentional levels, decentering alcohol, and operating at more sustainable hours, we aim to create a space that aims to be more accessible for a wider range of people and leave guests feeling more nourished than depleted the morning after.
This space is suited for those looking to:
- Enjoy a meaningful night out with loved ones & new connections
- Spend time journaling, reading, studying, or working on a creative project in a cozy space outside of the home
- Meet new people in an easy-going environment designed to foster conversation and connection
- Experience a softer, more intentional alternative to nightlife
