Sat Oct 31, 2026 6:30 PM - 1:00 AM First Street Market, 02141

DESCRIPTION

To honor the season where the veil between the worlds thins and the spiritual realm opens up, The Ludo is summoning up a two-part celebration that taps into the magical and mysterious dimensions~

ACT I: 6:30-8:30 PM
Into The Psyche (A Symbolic Sound Journey)

Act II: 9 PM-1 AM
Liminal (A Dance Between Worlds)

Come for one part or the whole night at a discounted rate!

ACT I: INTO THE PSYCHE (A SYMBOLIC SOUND JOURNEY)

For one night, and one night only, we’re bringing together a special ensemble of musicians (Grant Smith, NXOR, LAVAGXRL, Jeff Wang, and Victoria Anine) to take you on a haunting sonic journey in the spirit of spooky season.

This isn’t your typical, restorative sound bath. Expect ambient sounds evolving into dissonant soundscapes designed to open you up to the less-traversed corners of your mind and the symbolic realm of collective unconscious.

Plus, this deep-listening experience will be accompanied by:

  • A guided meditation to help you open the mind's eye
  • Ritual + dance by grace skies and kage
  • Live visual projections by Visualsss, which will be shaped, in part, by the group's psychic material
  • Jungian-inspired reflections on the unconscious and symbolic material that arises during the performances
  • Full bar and tea service
  • Zendo Project-trained sitter for psychedelic support*

***Please note, we have a zero-tolerance policy for harmful or overly-intoxicated behavior, and drug consumption on-site is not permitted.***

Guests are encouraged lie down with eyes closed during the sound journey and to bring yoga mats, blankets, cushions, etc. A limited amount will be available for at a first-come-first-served basis, with priority given to guests who purchase a packaged ticket for both events.

Some standard seating will be also be available. Please reach out to info@theludo.co with any accessibility questions and requests as soon as possible.

ARRIVAL

There will be a strict 15 minute arrival period for this event to allow guests to fully immerse in the sound journey. Entry may not be permitted once the music has begun.

ACT II: LIMINAL (A DANCE BETWEEN WORLDS)

We're creating an immersive environment with tricks, treats, and dark psychedelic beats. Enjoy a stacked lineup of live musical performances, visual projections, interactive activities, and more!

We want to see your most otherworldly outfits, archetypal attire, and cosmic costumes. We will have an undercover scout looking to find the best dressed, who will receive a gift card to pair tickets to one of The Ludo's Steep'd: Ambient Tea Lounge events this Fall/Winter season, along with a gift card to Amba Cafe for you and your +1 to enjoy dinner next door before hand!

MEET THE MUSICIANS

Act I:

GRANT SMITH
Grant Smith is a versatile, globally toured percussionist who trained with masters across drumset, Arabic drums, tabla, Afro-Cuban percussion, and frame drum, earning praise from the Boston Globe as a "brilliant improviser" and from the Boston Phoenix for his cross-genre range. Based in the Boston and New York scenes, he works across world music, jazz, classical, dance, and theatre (including American Repertory Theater productions and Joel Grey's "Borscht Capades"). He has performed with artists ranging from Itzhak Perlman and Yo-Yo Ma to the Violent Femmes and Garrison Keillor.

NXOR

NXOR specializes in hypnotic, quasi-improvisational long-form modular synthesizer performances, composed in response to specific atmospheres, people, and physical spaces. The work ranges from pararhythmic functional dub to harmonic ambience, underpinned by continuous, patient unfolding and the expectation of impermanence. Their most recent release, Moon Lattice, is available on the Divergent Series label (divseries.bandcamp.com/).

LAVAGXRL
Ranging from ambient soundscapes to catchy electronic pop, LAVAGXRL's creative practice is rooted in experimentation and improvisation. With a love for guitars and analog synthesizers, LAVAGXRL produces ethereal and expressive tracks that are poised to mesmerize and captivate you.

JEFF WANG
Jeff Wang is a multi-instrumentalist and producer focused on live audiovisual recording. He is currently working on a concept album to tell lost stories of AAPI tragedies.

VICTORIA ANINE
Victoria Anine is an artist from upstate New York making ethereal pop music. The music relies heavily on vocal layering, chimes, strings, and sounds from the deep sea. The result is an atmospheric journey that alternates between feelings of meditation and prayerfulness and uplifting gratitude! The goal of the work is to get the body and spirit moving together in a positive way.

Act II:

SUNSHINE [AT NIGHT]
Sunshine [at Night] is the live electronic project of Brandon “Sunshine” Esteves, a New England-based artist and community organizer. Since 2022 he has toured solo across the U.S., performed at over a dozen festivals, and earned multiple awards for his contributions to local music scenes. Known for crafting fully improvised sets with analog synths, drum machines, and live vocals.

VIOLET NOX (duo set)
Whether it’s journeying into the subconscious or leaving for celestial rendezvous, Violet Nox turns the vaporous into an electronic art form that’s simultaneously yearning and mysterious, cinematic and ready for the dance floor. Fizzing with techy sophistication and escapism, the American electronic group continues to map out a fresh cerebral sonic vision.

MERCET
Mercet is the musical project of Sai Boddupalli. Filled with inspiration from film scores, contemporary classical music and 90s IDM, Mercet is meditation music for the dance floor.

CIRCUIT JUMPER
Circuit Jumper is a Prog/Fusion Groove band drawing influences from a wide variety of sounds including jazz, rock, metal, and electronic mediums. Consisting primarily of drums and fretless bass, they are driven by the interplay of those two instruments and augmented by synthesizers to create groove laden atmospheres worthy of movement.

Grace Skies
Though what’s in a name? Grace Skies is an interdisciplinary artist who loves life, the unknown, and this beautiful, broken, perfect world.
