Who Needs a “Liberal Education”?  Everyone!

Join us in an important webinar with two rising stars in the field of American education.

Dr. Claudia MacMillan presents the distinctive and inspiring vision of The MacMillan Institute’s “spirit of liberal learning for all”;

Dr. Roosevelt Montás shares his inspiring personal journey and why the great books are important for all students, including from low-income families; and

Dr. Anika Prather explains the essential bond between the classical intellectual tradition and the African-American community.

Dr. MacMillan is Executive Director and Founder of The MacMillan Institute, a non-profit educational organization whose vision is to help transform the American public-school system so that every child can receive an education that liberates the heart and mind.

Dr. Montás is Senior Lecturer in American Studies and English at Columbia University and author of Rescuing Socrates: How the Great Books Changed My Life and Why They Matter for the Next Generation, a moving personal narrative in which he makes the claim for the right of every child to have a liberal education.

Dr. Prather is a Lecturer at and classics major from Howard University. She is Founder and Head of School of the Living Waters School and speaks widely on the intersection of the classics and the black intellectual tradition, authoring a book with her colleague, Dr. Angel Parham, currently in publication.
