Experience a powerhouse night of blues at Madison Heights featuring Leavin' Trunk and ELRY Blue. From the irresistible New Orleans-inspired grooves and Southern soul of Leavin' Trunk to ELRY Blue's raw, energetic blend of blues, country and Americana, this promises an evening of exceptional musicianship, driving rhythms and timeless songs that will chill the spirit and rattle the bones.
Two things define the music of Leavin’ Trunk: A powerful groove, infused with a scintilla of New Orleans gumbo; and great tunes – original songs and classics from all sorts of obscure corners of the blues and soul pantheon.
Across four decades, Essex singer Tim Aves has fronted bands, including Automatic Slim, The Rockin’ Armadillos and latterly, the Howlin’ Wolf-inspired Tim Aves & WOLFPACK.
For much of that time he worked alongside Essex bassman Rob “Tank” Barry, who also boasts touring experience with UK Blues Challenge winners LaVendore Rogue, Hokie Joint, Ian Siegal, Jon Amor and Lightnin’ Willie.
Legendary Suffolk drummer John Butters is a true veteran, the driving force behind The Mean Red Spiders, The Groove Doctors and Blues Situation, while Craig Fillbrook also brings his guitar talents to the party via Blues Situation. The final ace up Trunk’s sleeve is the sound of Adam Whyatt’s soulful piano and Hammond organ - a truly formidable alliance of talents from across East Anglia!
First coming together during the lull between covid lockdowns, Leavin’ Trunk has gone on to chalk up a long tally of performances at prestigious venues and festivals all over the UK. Their first album, “The River”, has won widespread acclaim and reached the upper echelons of the IBBA blues chart.
ELRY Blue are an energetic acoustic Duo made up of Noel Gander on Guitar Vocals Harmonica and Gary Choules Double Bass Brush Pad and Shi-Tam.
The Duo draw upon inspirations from the likes of Hank Williams, Big Bill Broonzy and Tom Waites, along with Bassists Larry Taylor and Ernie Newton.
The Band are garnering great interest on the national music scene and are gaining a healthy following wherever they play.
Elry Blue take well-chosen covers along with a number of self-penned tunes to create a powerful driving blues/country rhythm whilst keeping in touch with the original soul of the music.
Their aim is to Chill the Spirit and Rattle the Bones. Come see for yourself.
