Indie Afternoon @ Madison Heights

Get ready for an afternoon of powerful live music, alternative energy, and original sounds as this Indie Music Event brings together some of the most exciting emerging acts from the Essex alternative scene — featuring BAND SUBSTRATE, WHY US, and JADED JESTER.

Leading the line-up are Substrate, a female-led punk, metal and hard rock band from South Essex whose explosive sound draws influence from Black Sabbath, Limp Bizkit, The Misfits and Destroy Boys. Combining heavy riffs, chaotic energy, striking imagery, and raw, emotionally charged vocals, Substrate create music designed for audiences who want to express themselves, connect, and lose themselves in the intensity of live performance. Featuring Alina on vocals, Harley on guitar and backing vocals, Finn on bass, Florence on guitar, and Max on drums, the band delivers an unforgettable blend of aggression, emotion, and atmosphere.

Also appearing are Jaded Jester, a female-fronted alt-rock/nu-metal trio from Southend whose sound channels the spirit of bands such as Skunk Anansie, Tool, and Alter Bridge. Blending powerful melodic vocals, complex guitar work, chunky bass riffs, and dynamic drum grooves, the band create emotionally driven songs filled with striking imagery and massive hooks. Following the release of their debut album earlier this year, Jaded Jester are quickly building a reputation for live performances that appeal far beyond traditional heavy music audiences.
