Join us for a fantastic evening of live original music as The Storeys take to the stage at The Black Rabbit as part of the Maldon Festival.

Blending memorable melodies, irresistible hooks and heartfelt storytelling, The Storeys draw inspiration from an eclectic mix of influences including The Beatles, classic pop, punk, singer-songwriters and alt-country. Their songs are rich in character, often revealing deeper, darker themes beneath their infectious sound.

Known for their engaging live performances, the band combines a strong set of original material with a carefully chosen selection of well-loved covers, creating an evening that is both familiar and refreshingly unique.Featuring Ian Marshall (vocals), John Corrigan (guitar), Peter Cartwright (bass) and Ant Harding (drums), The Storeys promise an uplifting night of great music to round off the Maldon Festival in style.

WE ARE THE STOREYS

The Storeys are bound together like a well-practised fisherman’s knot.Friendship first – a shared passion for melody driven music a very close second.

A perfect perch by Rutland Water doesn’t stop Pete joining John and Ian for gigs in Essex and song writing and jamming sessions on the sunny Suffolk Coast; where the bucolic setting quite often inspires their best work.

With their music collections reflecting eclectic tastes; the Storeys’ own sounds - often written with acoustic performance in mind; reveal influences that range from The Beatles, Crowded House and Squeeze – through darker, more reflective artists such as Elliot Smith, and The National.

Rather than aspire to be yet another ‘covers band’, The Storeys have always wanted to play their own songs live. With a strong local following in Essex, they now have a set that works well with the discerning music fan. However, they also have enough songs with strong hooks and memorable choruses, that appeal to those whose hands and feet like to be gainfully employed at a gig...”
