Join us this May for an exciting evening of unforgettable music from the CJ Ensemble!
With Steve Kershaw on bass, Alistair Penman on sax, Claire Jones on vocals and Rory McInroy on keys, you can expect a superb performance, with these talented musicians bringing to life unique interpretations of classical, folk, jazz, Latin and pop songs.
With a significant portion of proceeds going to the Maple Tree and St Mary's, your ticket will be supporting vital work in our community as well as providing an evening to remember!
Steve Kershaw is one of the country’s best bass players, with a style
both hugely propulsive and sensitively melodic. Steve has also become a
musical catalyst, bringing together players and styles from all over
the world.
Claire Jones trained at the Guildhall School of Music and went on to
develop a fine jazz voice and a great ear for jazz language. She “blends
the voice into the fabric of the music, improvises and bends notes like
an instrument”.
Alastair Penman is Professor of Saxophone at the Guildhall School of Music. He has been hailed as a “pioneering instrumentalist and writer” and praised for his “surpassingly beautiful music”.
Rory McInroy is a jazz educator and a superb jazz pianist. He has
toured Europe and the Middle East and is in constant demand as a player.
