Troubled Waters: The Strait of Hormuz in Focus

Tue 29 Sep 2026 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM One Birdcage Walk, London, SW1H 9JJ

Few stretches of water matter more to the global economy than the Strait of Hormuz. A significant share of the world's seaborne oil and gas passes through a channel just a few miles wide, making it one of the most consequential and most vulnerable chokepoints in international trade.

The Middle East Association is delighted to convene a panel of leading experts for a timely discussion on the strategic and economic importance of the Strait, and the implications of regional developments for trade, energy security and wider international security. The panel will consider the risks to shipping and supply chains, the response of the energy markets, and what businesses operating in and with the region should be watching in the months ahead.
