The Old Coal Yard Accessibility Statement.
Here at The Old Coal Yard we pride ourselves on providing a venue that is accessible in the wider sense of the word.
We have created a space that is physically accessible. Our main space is all on one level so we can welcome those with a range of accessibility needs up to and including wheelchair users. We also have a fully DDA complaint toilet cubicle with all the relevant handles and aids for use by these customers.
As well as physical access to our venue we also aim to ensure that we are accessible to everyone in our community that may wish to join us here. We stand against discrimination in all its forms including but not exclusively towards gender, sexuality, race, religion or age. Everyone is welcome to join us here but we will not stand for threatening or discriminatory behaviour towards any of our customers or staff. The Old Coal Yard is a ‘Shout Up’ certified venue and all of our managers and staff have undergone specific training to combat sexually threatening or discriminatory behaviour.
We also understand that mental health plays an important part in a persons ability to access certain spaces. We endeavour at all times to be mindful of the huge range of mental health needs of all our customers. Our staff are always more than happy to offer what practicable help we can to those that may find themselves struggling while visiting us. However we must make clear that we are hospitality staff and not mental health professionals and can only offer the basic support in the moment.
