The New Albany Sugar Shoppe, New Albany’s premier confectionary, resides in one of the most infamous locations in the downtown area. Parts of the building date back to the early 1800s, and in 1820, when the building served as the town's bakery, a most unimaginable thing occurred within its wooden walls: the proprietor was murdered! And this act was made even more despicable, as he was murdered in cold blood by his good friend! A friend whose history would come to show him as a serial killer and who would later meet his fate at the end of the rope of justice!

And even though these two men, the baker Frederich Nolte, and the murderer, John Dahmen, both met their demise in the early 1820s, it seems that something of both of them lives on! For The New Albany Sugar Shoppe is one of the most haunted locations in downtown New Albany, IN!

For years there have been reports of otherworldly goings on in this building, from strange noises to shadowy figures, to people being touched, pushed, and even scratched! And while most report the entity to be rather benevolent, there also seems to be something malevolent afoot…

So join us on a 2 and a half hour long investigation of this historic & famously haunted location as we try to make contact with the past!

PARANORMAL INVESTIGATION:

THE SCHEDULE: (allotted times are estimates)

Start at 7:30 PM and end at 10 PM

• Introduction (15 mins)
  • Meet & Greet
    • We will introduce ourselves to you.
  • Guidelines and Rules
    • Go over just to make sure everyone is safe & has a good time!
  • History and background (10-15 mins)
    • The history and story behind the haunting
      • A summary of the events of the past that have led to the hauntings of today.
  • Group Walkthrough & Investigation (45-60 mins)
    • A guided tour through the building with stops along the way to investigate as a group.
      • At various points throughout this time, the guides will try and communicate with the spirits.
  • On Your Own (45-60 mins)
    • This time will be for you to walk about and investigate on your own!
      • Staff will be around to monitor and assist if needed.
  • Debriefing (10-15 mins)
    • Come together and share experiences and findings!

GHOST HUNTING EQUIPMENT IS WELCOME (no setting up; handhelds only)

  • PLEASE DO NOT USE OR DO ANYTHING THAT WOULD IN ANY WAY DISTRACT OTHERS FROM THE INVESTIGATION!!!!
• Respect the property!
  • It is a privilege to be able to investigate this historical location which is also a private business!
    • Please do your utmost to make sure you do not damage, deface, or rearrange anything in the shop.
      If you do happen to accidentally move anything etc., please immediately inform the guides!
      • THEFT WILL BE PROSECUTED TO THE FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW!
• We are not responsible for any lost, damaged, or stolen items.
• We are not responsible for your personal safety.
  • PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND AWARE OF YOU AND OTHERS AND YOUR SURROUNDINGS!!!
    • Much of the investigation will be done in the dark in close quarters, so be prepared and be careful!
• NO trying to scare others on the investigation.
  • This is a serious endeavor, and we expect guests to treat it as such.
• PLEASE, do NOT fake evidence.
  • This is a serious investigation with hopes of discovering authentic evidence!
    • So please do your best to be honest about your experiences.
• During investigations, if you make a noise others may be able to hear, please inform others where it came from.
  • A quick “that was me” will do!
• If you take a picture with flash, please say “flash” before you take a picture.
  • Also, make sure others are out of the way!
• Call out anything you witness, so others may be able to experience it too!
• Feel free to try and communicate (talk) with the spirits; however: NO provocative language is allowed.
  • Speaking rudely to other guests or spirits will not be tolerated.
    • Always remember to do so in a way that does not interrupt or disturb other guests.
• Do not take up too much time or space in a spot others would like to investigate in
• When trying to take “spirit” pictures, it is best to take at least 3 pictures quickly in succession!
• No spirit/Ouija boards are allowed on site.
• If you get good evidence, PLEASE SHARE WITH US!
• If you have any questions/concerns while at the event, please talk with a guide!
• If you are unable to follow these guidelines, the staff reserve the right to remove you from the tour and will not issue a refund.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFO:

NAWW T-shirts will be on sale before and after the tour for $15 each.

We have the right to cancel the event if number of tickets sold is not satisfactory. We will notify ticket-holders and promptly process a refund.

Tickets are NON-refundable.  Due to the nature of event ticket sales, we are not offering refunds for cancellations / no shows. 

The email address you enter when you purchase tickets will be the main way of direct communication between the New Albany Wicked Walk and you. So please, provide an email that you check on a regular basis.
