Meet the Cidermaker: Ross-on-Wye Cider & Perry @ The Old Shoe

Few cidermakers in the UK know apples better than Albert Johnson. His family have been pressing apples and pears at Broome Farm in Herefordshire dating back to the 1930s. Their impressive orchard is home to dozens of varieties of cider apples and perry pears, and their Ross-on-Wye Cider & Perry brand makes a huge range of products -- including possibly the largest number of single variety ciders in the country!
We've asked Albert to come and talk us through their exciting new Summer releases. Expect an exploration of the apple and pear varieties grown in his family's orchard, the differences and difficulties in these fruits, and how they can be used to make cider -- both on their own and in blends. And of course, we'll taste all sorts of different styles of cider and perry along the way!
We'll be pouring a minimum of 7 different ciders and perries -- though probably more once we've raided the cellar.
Since cider education is at the core of what The Old Shoe is all about, we're again offering tickets for this cider event for just £25!
We want to encourage both cider lovers and the cider curious alike to come out and see what independent traditional cider is all about! Only 40 tickets will be available to this event, and we think it's going to sell out fast!
The event will start at 6pm and these tastings usually last between 2.5 to 3 hours. We'll be hosting the event at our friend NO;DC, access via Orchard Street behind The Old Shoe.
