MAKE A JUMPSUIT - 5 WEEK FASHION & TEXTILES COURSE

If you’ve enjoyed the Great British Sewing Bee, you are going to love this real life experience in our 5 week fashion and textile course suitable for beginners or those with experience wanting to make a garment and further their skills!

Working from an easy to read Pattern, come and learn to make your very own, on trend and versatile jumpsuit with demonstrations from experienced seamstress and theatre costume designer maker Penelope O'Gara. Guided all along the way with step by step expert tuition, discover how to make this comfortable and on trend item of clothing, gaining valuable generic sewing skills along the way with lots of one to one support to help you further your learning.

All tuition, materials and tools are included - all you need to bring is a fabric of your choice. Light to medium weight woven fabric (not stretchy) with some drape is ideal. Fabric suggestions - medium weight cotton, linen, linen blends, tencel, tencel/linen, cotton chambray (light denim), indian handweaves.

Skill level - beginner or any level wishing to further their skills and make use of the studio facilities, materials and tools to practice dressmaking. Some experience using a sewing machine is desirable. You can always come along to our Woolly Wednesday or Craft Collective groups to gain basic sewing machine skills before you start the course. 

Limited spaces so BOOK NOW to secure a place... all materials, tools, tuition, and tea are included. Our coffee bar has delicious teas, coffees and cake available throughout the course and we very much look forward to welcoming you here! This workshop is subsidised by Multiply: Somerset Skills & Learning to support maths, numeracy and adult learning and is free for adults in Somerset. To qualify for a funded place you need to be aged over 19 and live in Somerset and register an account with SS&L through the link given to you once you have purchased your ticket. If you are not based in Somerset (e.g. North Somerset, BANES, Dorset) but would like to take part please contact us first before booking so we can ensure the cost of your place is covered.  Please note you can only gain funding for one level of learning (taster/starter/developer/enhancer) in any one academic year so check if you have received funding to complete that level before booking a place.

This particular course is free to support Maths and numeracy skills. You are always welcome to make donations to our CIC aside from this course. Please adjust your donation amount accordingly at the point of booking your ticket and every donation supports our community interest work, enabling us to widen participation through the delivery of our low cost, inclusive learning programme.

The Old Stores Studio Cancellation Policy: Please note if you find yourself unable to attend your booking I'm afraid we are unable to offer a refund but you can transfer your ticket to another person in advance. Please let us know if you wish to do this. If the studio cancels your booking for any reason we will do our best to reschedule the workshop on an alternative date, transfer your credit to another workshop or if that is not possible we can issue a full refund upon request. Unfortunately, we cannot issue refunds for SS&L courses due to administrative and material costs. Many thanks.
