3 Part Life Drawing Course: Dimensions, Perspective and Proportions

Join us for three life drawing sessions to develop your life drawing skills. In these three two-hour sessions, we will explore how to examine, measure and describe Dimensions, Perspective and Proportions through your drawing. This will be a tutored session with live models and all materials tools and tuition are included. 

A wide range of drawing materials and tools will be available but please feel free to bring along any that you have yourself and any papers that you would like to use in the sessions. 

We will experiment and use materials, tools and mark making techniques and develop processes for measuring and working out scale to help your drawing skills and investigate line, shape and space during a series of three life drawing sessions. During the sessions we will explore different methods, with a focus on capturing the contours of the human form using different line qualities, break down the body into basic shapes and proportions to understand its structure, and consider the negative space around the figure to create a sense of depth and dimension in your drawing; this will be achieved through techniques like gesture drawing, contour drawing, and analysing shapes within the body.

These sessions are suitable for all levels of experience from beginners beyond as you will be developing your learning from whatever level you start the sessions on an individual basis with tuition tailored to your requirements.

*This workshop is subsidised by Somerset Council to support adult learning and is free for adults in Somerset who earn under £25,750 pa. To qualify for a funded place you need to be aged over 19 and live in Somerset and register an account with Somerset Council through the link given to you once you have purchased your ticket. If you are not based in Somerset (e.g. North Somerset, BANES, Dorset) but would like to take part please contact us first before booking so we can ensure the cost of your place is covered. Please note you can only gain funding for one level of learning (taster/starter/developer/enhancer) in any one academic year so check if you have received funding to complete that level before booking a place.

The Old Stores Studio Cancellation Policy: Please note if you find yourself unable to attend your booking I'm afraid we are unable to offer a refund but you can transfer your ticket to another person in advance. Please let us know if you wish to do this. If the studio cancels your booking for any reason we will do our best to reschedule the workshop on an alternative date, transfer your credit to another workshop or if that is not possible we can issue a full refund upon request.
