STARTER - Zine Project: Thermal Cameras and Collage - Unlock Your Imagination

Join us for our new Home Ed courses! This is the first of 6 courses that we will be running throughout the academic year. Each course is 4 weeks long with the opportunity to progress to a further advanced course straight afterwards to develop your learning with your child. 

We are passionate about creative learning and are excited to offer this series of courses across the next academic year designed for Home Educators and their primary school aged children in Key Stage 2. We have a particular focus on inclusion and SEND support and welcome those with additional learning needs.

This is an professional artist and tutor guided art & craft course for parents & carers home educating young people in Somerset. It is an opportunity, for home educators, to spend some time with like minded home people and a chance to get creative and explore how creativity can unlock the potential to learn on an individual basis. Many groups are focused on your children, and this one is too - with exciting projects to do together at the studio and continue at home- but it is also about tapping into your creativity as an educator... and how the creative learning process can be enhanced and enjoyed through developing your creative practice with your children.

Home Education and supporting your child to learn can be a roller coaster and these four week courses are intended to provide you with a consistent support network and creative outlet to support you and encourage creativity together with your child here at the studio and beyond through out the year. As a parent and educator, peer support and mindful activity are incredibly valuable and there is plenty of it to be found here each week.

Alongside the projects themselves we will also look at Creative Approaches to Learning and Pedagogy with a focus on inclusion and SEND.

• Teaching methods: The practical techniques, activities, and styles used to share knowledge.
• Learning theories: The ideas and research behind how people process information and build skills.
• Assessment: The tools used to check learner progress and measure understanding.
• Learning environment: How to manage behaviour, space, and learner relations to support focus and safety.

We offer a relaxed and welcoming environment. We also have a coffee bar with fruit and herbal cordials, teas and coffees plus delicious cakes (with dairy and gluten free options) as well as parking and plenty of room and a wide range of facilities.

The first course is Zine design and making and we have many more creative projects to help support you on the home educator journey. Future courses if you sign up for this one will include:

This group is FREE (with a suggested donation) and funded through our partnership with Somerset Council  for adults over 19 who live in Somerset. It is accessible to all home educators and their children and we meet in term time. 

Always join the waiting list if it is fully booked as you will be informed of any spaces that may become available.

The Old Stores Studio Cancellation Policy: Please note if you find yourself unable to attend your booking I'm afraid we are unable to offer a refund but you can transfer your ticket to another person in advance. Please let us know if you wish to do this. If the studio cancels your booking for any reason we will do our best to reschedule the workshop on an alternative date, transfer your credit to another workshop or if that is not possible we can issue a full refund upon request. Unfortunately, we cannot issue refunds for SS&L courses due to administrative and material costs. Many thanks.
