Create your own beautiful herringbone patterned silk scarf using Arashi Shibori. Shibori is the Japanese name for a range of resist dyeing (or tie dye) methods. The diagonal patterns produced by this ingenious technique resemble driven rain which is why it is called Arashi, meaning ‘storm’ in Japanese.

You will be taken step by step through the process of preparing your silk scarf, then wrapping the scarf around a pole, winding with thread and compressing it into tiny pleats. Once you have compressed your scarf on the pole you can have fun choosing colours and applying the dyes to your scarf. Then comes the magic! After dyeing you will open out your scarf to reveal your own unique strikingly patterned silk scarf.

Suitable for beginners or those with experience of textiles who would like to develop their skills. Delicious tea and cake are included as part of your workshop and all tutoring, tools and materials are provided. We very much look forward to welcoming you here.
