The development of railways in the 19th century transformed transportation in Canada and was elemental in building our nation. On a smaller scale, the streetcar connected and helped build Calgary. Today, rail continues to connect Calgarians with the Redline and Blueline, and the future Greenline. Join Heritage Calgary’s Josh Traptow as he tells the stories of the development of Calgary’s rail network – from the CPR to the streetcar – and how it shaped the Beltline and our city as a whole.
Josh is an actively involved community member, serving on multiple boards including the Western Agriculture Heritage Committee and the Women In Need Society. He has received several awards for his significant contributions to his community, including the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal and recognition as one of 20 Compelling Calgarians by the Calgary Herald.
Join us at 6:15 pm for light refreshments. Speaker at 7 pm.
