🌱 The Outside In returns to The Crooked Tap to bring you this special workshop for Acomb Fest 2026!🌱
Following the festival theme “returning to nature”, we encourage you to time out of your weekend to enjoy a relaxing, sensory workshop - getting up close to moss, soil and plants and learning all about the Japanese art of making Kokedama.
Kokedama, roughly translates into English as “moss ball’. This is a Japanese method of binding the root ball of a plant in a clay soil mix and moss so that it no longer needs a pot to grow in. Your mossy plant ball can then be hung up or displayed sitting on a decorative plate or piece of wood.
In this special workshop session, Alice from The Outside In will take you step-by-step through the traditional style of creating Kokedama: using leafy plants and moss. It’s a great opportunity to learn about handling plants, roots and soil, making the most of time well spent connecting to nature. When you finish, you'll have your very own Kokedama plant planet to take home and love.
All of the materials and guidance will be provided, along with aftercare instructions on how to help your Kokedama to thrive. This workshop is suitable for adults and children aged 10+.
We’re offering this workshop at a special festival price. When booking your ticket you’ll have the option of making 1 or 2 Kokedama. Allow 1 hour for making 1 and 1.5 hours if you’re making 2.
**If you’d like to use one of our gift vouchers to book this workshop please contact Alice directly.**
This workshop is non refundable unless the event is cancelled by the host. If you are no longer able to attend please contact the host as soon as possible so that the space can be made available for someone else to come along.
