Oxbridge summer cocktails at the British Ambassador's Residence

Dear Oxonian and friends,

We are delighted to invite you to a summer cocktail at the elegant, historic, British Residence, 17 Rue Ducale, 1000 Brussels, 6pm to 8.30pm, on Friday 4th July 2025, hosted by the Deputy Ambassador, Elizabeth Mckinnell. And it is with great pleasure we invite our friends from the Cambridge Society of Belgium, and fellow universities.

During the evening there will be a light musical recital (20mins) performed by the Worcester College Choir, Oxford University (currently amongst the top three most sought-after Oxford college choirs for future choral scholars).

It is the last time we will have the opportunity to organise a reception at the British Ambassador’s official Residence (the former Hôtel de Cröy); a new policy on how the Ambassador's Residence is used means that the Embassy is no longer able to offer the house for external events. We are grateful to the British Embassy for honouring our reservation, made last year, and pre-policy change.

We recommend that those wishing to register, arrive at 6pm, or as near as possible to that time, so as to enjoy the gracious, spacious surroundings (and courtyard-garden in fine weather). There will be several guests already present at 6pm, including the organisers and the Worcester College Choir. The Embassy kindly requests guests to leave by 8.30pm.

The guest list is strictly required by the Embassy a week ahead of event (27^thJune). Registration is closed once the limited number of places, now remaining, are taken. Members and guests registered are requested to bring their identity cards for security purposes. For paid-up OUSB members the cost is 50 euros. For guests, non-paid-up members, Cambridge Society members and fellow universities the cost is 60 euros. 

Dress code: cocktail dress /jacket or suit.

Evening Programme

• 6pm:          reception begins at the British Residence
• 6.40pm:    light recital by the Worcester College Choir, Oxford University
• 7pm:          reception continues
• 8.30pm:    carriages
