PEX 100 - A Day of Dialogue

A day of conversation exploring the Peckham Experiment’s radical ideas about health, community, creativity and place, 100 years on.

2026 marks 100 years since the beginning of the Peckham Experiment, the pioneering study of health, family and community founded in Peckham by doctors Innes Hope Pearse and George Scott Williamson.

The Day of Dialogue takes place at the heart of PEX100: A Place to Belong, our four-day centenary exhibition at Copeland Gallery. Surrounded by archive material, films, photography, objects and contemporary creative work, the exhibition provides the setting for a day that brings the Peckham Experiment’s ideas into conversation with life today.

At its centre is a question that still feels current today: 

What does it mean to be truly healthy?

Bringing together community voices, creatives, practitioners, researchers, policy makers and thinkers, the day will move through three linked conversations:
