People's Mosquito Club 2026 Fundraising day
We are delighted to be able to offer our members the opportunity to spend a day at the Helicopter Museum, Weston-super-Mare (see www.helimuseum.com for more information)
All attendees will be provided with a guided tour of the museum, which will last a maximum of 60 minutes, as well as a project update from our Chairman, John Lilley, and an illustrated talk by Michael Parrott.
Michael is one of the founders of the 307 Squadron Project and his talk is entitled "The Polish Nightfighters - The Story of 307 Squadron"
It will cover the squadron's formation at Lincolnshire in August 1940 and its subsequent moves to different bases including RAF Exeter where they remained for two years (April 1941 - April 1943) defending the whole of south-west England including Weston-Super-Mare.
The talk includes details about the squadron's three aircraft that the squadron used during the war - Defiant, Beaufighter and Mosquito, plus details of what squadron members got up to in their spare time - and how the chance discovery of a plaque in memory of a squadron navigator led to the formation of 307 Squadron Project and the annual civic raising of the Polish flag over Exeter Guildhall every November in memory of the squadron.
A buffet lunch will also be provided and you will also have some time to explore the museum at your leisure
