The Clean Up are an infectiously groovy, indie, funk and soul band formed in Bristol that ‘bring sheer musical joy’ to the stage. It’s hard to believe that they only formed in 2023 based on the unwavering chemistry within the group evident in their compelling performances.

They effortlessly blend infectious grooves with soulful vocals, captivating saxophone melodies and a tight rhythm section that keeps the audience stepping on the floor all night.

Whether it’s the irresistible beats that gets everyone moving or the heartfelt lyrics that touch the soul, The Clean Up leave a lasting impression on audiences wherever they play, making them a must-see act on the UK funk and soul scene.

Stylistically influenced by roots music from both sides of the Atlantic, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Jack Cookson combines dry and visceral word play with intricate finger-style guitar arrangements. 2019 saw his first sets at Glastonbury Festival, as well as airplay on Tom Robinson's show on BBC 6 Music. He has shared the stage with the likes of Ralph McTell, Louis Berry and Mahalia, and in early 2016 he was announced as one of the final four nominees for the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award.
