Our Photo Tips online talk series offer a safe digital learning environment for the photography community worldwide. These sessions provide insight, inspiration, and open dialogue with industry professionals and creative community members.

🎤 Led by award-winning photographer Lisa Marie Asubonteng, this talk will explore how photographic practice can engage with themes of cultural heritage, representation, and resilience, while also offering insight into pursuing funding for a sustainable and meaningful creative career.

✨Lisa-Marie will draw from her project The Holy Women”, which highlights the strength and resilience of portrayed survivors of sexual violence, and will share her experience navigating sensitive subjects with care, depth, and impact.

🌍 This talk is also a special celebration of Refugee Week (15-21 June 2026) and this year’s theme of Courage.

About the Organisers

Lisa-Marie Asubonteng is a Ghanaian-German visual artist and photographer known for her compelling exploration of identity, tradition, and resilience. With a distinct storytelling approach, she captures intimate moments that challenge perceptions and celebrate the emotional depth of African heritage. Her acclaimed project The Holy Women” earned her the Felix Schoeller Photo Award for Best Emerging Photographer in 2023. Through her practice, she examines the intersections of tradition and contemporary identity, creating socially engaged work that amplifies underrepresented voices. Based between Accra, London, and Berlin, Lisa Marie remains dedicated to using her lens as a tool for empowerment, amplifying underrepresented stories and navigating the delicate balance between modernity and cultural heritage.

The Photography Foundation is a London-based charity set up in 2019 to create pathways into photography careers and the wider creative industries. We are driven by our belief that everyone deserves a fulfilling creative career, and that creativity thrives when barriers to opportunity are removed. We have grown into a dynamic hub of creativity, community, and career development for diverse audiences. 🎯 What Are Photo Tips Online Talks?

The Photo Tips Online Talk Series is a safe learning space for photographers of all experience levels. Hosted by The Photography Foundation, these one-hour virtual sessions feature guest speakers from across the creative and photographic industries.

Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, our talks offer a chance to:

  • Learn new photography techniques and career tips

  • Understand image licensing and brand pitching

  • Hear firsthand insights from professionals in the industry

  • Ask questions and engage in open discussion

📅 Topics for 2025–2026

We host six online sessions per year, each one focusing on a new theme or skill, such as Fashion Week photography, image usage and licensing, practical tips on pitching to brands and magazines, and more.

  • Experience Level: All levels welcome — from total beginners to professional photographers!
