Fashion Studio Lighting 101 Workshop

Step into our North Greenwich Studio and level up your confidence in creating pro photoshoot setups!

📝 London-based, award-winning commercial photographer Celso Marrero will guide you through hands-on lighting setups in small groups. You'll get to grips with key photography fundamentals like directing, composition, and lighting techniques. 

📸 You’ll also gain practical, real-time experience, as Celso demonstrates a live shoot using our industry standard studio equipment, working step by step with a professional model and helping you build confidence in effective studio light usage. Alongside exploring studio lighting, Celso will also give a short demonstration using Capture One in a studio environment.

💡You’ll then have the chance to use our Canon cameras to photograph the model and capture fresh images for your own portfolio. All RAW images will be emailed to participants following the workshop.

🎯 By the end of the workshop, you'll have explored various pro lighting setups and essential equipment, gaining skills to enhance your creative practice and boost your career opportunities.

Pro Lighting Setups

• One-light butterfly setup: Create a clean beauty/fashion portrait with just one light. You'll learn how light position, height, and modifier choice affect your image.

• Two-light setup: A key light complemented with either a fill or rim light to introduce more dimension and separation.

• Three-point lighting: Use a key, fill and rim/background light to demonstrate a more complete commercial fashion setup. By the end you'll understand the purpose of each light.

Celso Marrero is a London based, award-winning, commercial photographer specialising in lifestyle, sports, streetwear, fashion and product photography, delivering impactful visuals that elevate brands. From concept to completion, Celso oversees every aspect of production to ensure the final images perfectly reflect his clients’ vision. Selected clients include Netflix / Loaf / Sidemen / Casio / Babyliss / Lyle & Scott.

The Photography Foundation is a London-based charity set up in 2019 to create pathways into photography careers and the wider creative industries. We are driven by our belief that everyone deserves a fulfilling creative career, and that creativity thrives when barriers to opportunity are removed. We have grown into a dynamic hub of creativity, community, and career development for diverse audiences.

🎟 Ticket Information

• Spaces are limited, if you can no longer attend, please request a refund for your ticket 48 hrs before the event via Ticket Tailor. If you request a ticket refund in less than 2 days before the scheduled event, you will be charged the full cost of the ticket, and you will not receive a refund.
• There is a fee for this workshop, however if you feel unable to pay, please get in touch with us at Events@thephotographyfoundation.org as we may have bursary spaces available upon remaining availability.
