Description
Policing and the Fourth Industrial Revolution
This renowned conference convenes an influential, cross-sector gathering of speakers and delegates to stimulate fresh thinking on key issues in policing.
This year, our theme is ‘Policing and the Fourth Industrial Revolution’. The digital revolution is transforming how we live, work, and relate to one another. The fusion of technologies such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, advanced robotics, and the Internet of Things has the potential to radically transform society during the 21st century.
The 2024 Cumberland Lodge Policing Conference will be dedicated to exploring the implications of these changes for policing and public safety. Through participatory sessions with guest speakers, we will ask:
- How could new technologies help to improve productivity and support the police in tackling crime?
- How will the next phase of the digital revolution shape the nature of crime and harm?
- To what extent should artificial intelligence lead to the automation of tasks currently carried out by police officers and staff?
- What does the increased capacity for mass surveillance mean for policing in a democratic society?
- How can we ensure that policing remains accountable to the public when it is utilising advanced technologies for public safety purposes?
The conference is shaped by our expert Police Conference Steering Committee, chaired by former Chief Constable Olivia Pinkney QPM, and is organised by the Police Foundation.
Participation is by invitation-only and participants are expected to attend the whole conference. The price of the Conference is £550.00+VAT including accommodation onsite in the former Royal residence and all meals throughout the duration of conference.
