This women-only course is ideal for women (only) who only know how the chess pieces move, up to players with up to about 1600 FIDE rating (if you don't what that means, this course is for you!).
The course consists
of 10 sessions – 5 interactive, practical lessons and 5 (optional) practice sessions. There will also be written notes and lessons are available as catch up videos throughout the course. You'll be joining an awesome, diverse community of amazing, friendly women.
This is a five week, live, interactive online chess course for beginner women, taught by women, at 5:30pm UK time every Wednesday, STARTING 8TH NOVEMBER. It will be EASY and it will be FUN - you can enjoy everything we will learn, with any IQ or experience level.
Each lesson is designed to work on its own, so don't worry if you will miss any - plus, there's video catch up and written notes too. You'll be joining a supportive community of friendly wome
Each week we will cover a different topic - this course will focus on 'endgames'. We'll look at what to do once most of the pieces have been taken. This is also a great way to get better at chess overall - it's easier to really understand how the pieces work together, once the board is a bit emptier! By the end, you will have increased your confidence, had fun, made friends and improved your game! :)
Every week there will be a chance to practice with other women at your level, during and after the lesson, and get tips specific to your game. You'll learn in a supportive, interactive environment, where you can ask questions, get individual attention and supervised practice.
Zoom recordings of lessons will be available afterwards, in case you miss a class or would like to review any topic.
There will be a weekly online teacher-assisted practice session for attendees of these courses (no additional charge). You will also be able to invite other women in the group to play and chat online.
SOME OF THE PROCEEDS FROM RUNNING THIS COURSE GO TO SUPPORT INITIATIVES AIMED AT BRINGING MORE WOMEN INTO CHESS, AND MAKING CHESS WOMAN-FRIENDLY. Our eventual aim is for women to be half of all chess players. We celebrate diversity in all its forms
Any questions at all, please do email Amanda at casualchesscafe@gmail.com - if your questions is, 'Can I do this course if I only know how the pieces move/if I'm going to miss some lessons?' the answer is, YES, absolutely! :) Each lesson works on its own, and of course there are the video catch up lessons, as well as written notes.
