The Queen's Gambit Chess Course for Women Beginners: Think Like An Expert Chess Player
Multiple dates and times
Online, Zoom
Description
This women-only course is ideal for women (only) who know how the chess pieces move and nothing more, up to players with around a 1900 FIDE rating (if you don't what that means, this course is for you!).
The course consists
of 10 sessions – you don't need to start at the beginning of the course, and it doesn't matter if you miss some classes. All our lessons are designed to work alone. There are 5 interactive, practical lessons and 5 (optional) practice sessions. There will also be a social event (which will be either online or hybrid online/live in London), and lessons are available as catch up videos throughout the course. You'll be joining an awesome, diverse community of amazing, friendly, funny women.
During this course, we'll be training ourselves to think like expert chess players in a systematic way. Over time, advanced chess players subconsciously create a mental checklist which stops them from losing their queen, getting checkmated on the next move, or missing a winning opportunity. We're going to deliberately replicate that process until it eventually becomes second nature and we do it automatically! This is about changing the way we think about each chess move. That makes this course perfect for players at every level, including those who have only just learned how the pieces move!
You don't need a chess board, or anything other than an internet connection and a computer, laptop or tablet (a phone is okay, but perhaps a bit small).
You'll receive your joining information at the email address you used to book/pay with, which may not be your main email address - please check). Any questions at all, please do email Amanda at casualchesscafe@gmail.com - if your questions is, 'Can I do this course if I only know how the pieces move/if I'm going to miss some lessons?' the answer is, YES, absolutely! :)
