This women-only course is ideal for women (only) who know how the chess pieces move and nothing more, up to players with around a 1600 FIDE rating (if you don't what that means, this course is for you!).

The course consists of 10 sessions – you don't need to start at the beginning of the course. All our lessons are designed to work alone. There are 5 interactive, practical lessons and 5 (optional) practice sessions. There will also be a social event, and lessons are available as catch up videos throughout the course. You'll be joining an awesome, diverse community of amazing, friendly women who also meet informally online to play chess and chat.

During this course, we'll be looking at the beating heart of chess: how to picture what's going to happen next. We're going to be learning how to keep a picture of the chess board in our head, and then picture it one more move into the future than we can now...whether we can currently see zero moves into the future, or several. Hopefully, this will help us have fewer of those, 'Oh no...I wish I hadn't made that move!' moments.

You don't need a chess board, or anything other than an internet connection and a computer, laptop or tablet (a phone is okay, but perhaps a bit small).
