Emma is a paediatric speech and language therapist with over 13 years clinical experience and is passionate about using play-based learning to support children's overall development.

This course explores practical strategies, ideas and tips to incorporate into everyday routines and playtime to support your child in achieving their communication potential. Every child develops at their own pace, but when a child's language skills are delayed we as parents and carers often need to work a little harder to support their communication development. This course is broken down into 3 individual sessions and run over 3 weeks to give you time to get familiar with new strategies from week to week and an opportunity to put them into practice between sessions.

At the end of the three-week course you will come away with a 'toolkit' of strategies and ideas to put into practice at home with your child to support their understanding of language as well as their expressive language skills. Often small changes in how we talk and play with our children can have a huge impact in supporting them to become more confident communicators.

This course is suitable for:

• Parents of children aged 18 months - 3.5 years who are not using as many words as expected or who may be on a waiting list to see a speech and language therapist.
• Parents of children who are 'late talkers' and need support in using more words and putting sentences together
• Parents of children who would like to learn about strategies and tools to support children's language development.
• Early years professionals working with young children looking for practical strategies and advice on how best to support children who may be having difficulties.

The content of this course is targeted at children age 18 months - 3.5 years.

This is a 3-hour course which will be held over 3 weeks (with an additional 15 minutes for questions at the end of each session).
