High Holiday Sermon Workshops with Jon Argaman

The RRA is pleased to offer two workshops this summer with writing coach Jon Argaman, designed to support rabbis in developing their High Holiday drashot.

Register for one session ($54) or both ($90).

Session 1: Sermon Seeds (June 25, 1–2:30 PM ET)
Early summer is the right time to figure out what you actually need to say this year. This 90-minute workshop uses structured brainstorming techniques to help you move past the overwhelm of this moment and find clarity on the Torah you're called to teach. You'll work through ideas with peers who share your perspective, and leave with concrete direction and a plan for the summer.

You'll leave with 1-3 "sermon seeds" — your best current directions for your High Holiday drashot — along with actionable next steps, peer cross-pollination, and the workshop workbook with exercises and tools to use as you develop your sermons over the summer.

Session 2: Getting to Done (August 4, 1–3 PM ET)
As Elul approaches, this workshop meets you wherever you are: an idea you haven't started drafting, an outline that needs to become a sermon, a draft that isn't quite coming together, or a direction that keeps shifting because the world won't stop shifting. Through guided exercises, peer workshopping, and direct coaching, you'll commit to a direction, make real writing progress, and leave with a concrete plan for finishing.

You'll leave with a committed direction specific enough to write from, actual writing progress made during the workshop itself, and a realistic plan for getting to done — including a strategy for when doubt shows up.

Both sessions include the workshop workbook.

About Jon Argaman
Jon Argaman is a writing coach who specializes in working with rabbis, neurodivergent writers, perfectionists, and procrastinators. His practice draws on a decade teaching writing at the University of Pennsylvania and uses a strengths-based approach to help each client build lasting trust in themselves as a writer. For several years, Jon has worked specifically with rabbis on high holiday sermon preparation, helping them surface the Torah living within them and write sermons that are nourishing, engaging, authentic, and done.
