Introduction to Genograms

Understanding the patterns that shape how we work, relate, support or lead

This online workshop offers a thoughtful introduction to genograms and the insights they can provide into the personal and professional influences that shape how we think, communicate and build relationships.

Particularly relevant for helping professionals, educators, healthcare practitioners, coaches, leaders and those working in relational roles, the workshop provides an accessible introduction to genogram work as a framework for understanding both personal experience and professional relationships.

Using simple visual mapping techniques, participants are invited to explore family structures, significant relationships, and recurring themes that may shape their sense of self, connection, and belonging. The workshop is designed as a gentle and reflective exploration rather than an in-depth therapeutic process.

Through guided reflection and discussion, participants are encouraged to approach their personal histories with curiosity, gaining a broader perspective on the experiences and influences that have contributed to who they are today.

The session combines experiential learning with practical understanding, allowing participants to experience the process for themselves.

This workshop can be attended as a standalone session or combined with our companion workshop, Introduction to Social GRACES.

The workshop includes:

  • A one-hour live online workshop
  • An introduction to the principles and purpose of genograms
  • Guided exploration of family relationships and patterns
  • Opportunities for personal reflection and insight
  • Experiential exercises and discussion
  • CPD Certificate of Attendance

Leave with a practical introduction to genogram work, fresh insight into the experiences that shape us, and a framework that can enrich both personal reflection and professional practice.
